The Assistant Estimator is responsible for assisting Estimators/Project Managers and will play a crucial role in supporting new project development including quantifying take-offs, calculating, and compiling data for use in preparation of proposals.

Requirements

  • Calculate mathematical extensions, read, and understand construction documents
  • Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Prioritize and manage multiple tasks, changing priorities as necessary
  • Work under pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude
  • Oral and written communication skills as required for the position
  • Self-motivated and can work independently and as part of a team
  • Interact effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, both management and staff alike, vendors, clients, and others

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum 2 years of post secondary non-degree award in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field
  • Can be a combination of education, training, and relevant experience

Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed data quantity take-offs based on project specifications, drawings, and other relevant documents for data entry into the computer estimating system.
  • Identify qualified suppliers/subcontractors and solicit quotes.
  • Participate in developing and organizing bid package estimate documents.
  • Maintain files of working documents for backup to estimating assumptions and methodologies.
  • Distribute bidding documents to sub-contractors and vendors at the direction of the Estimator.
  • Collaborate with other estimators and project managers to ensure the estimate take-offs are aligned with the project’s scope of work and requirements.
  • Perform additional assignments per the supervisor's direction.
