About The Position

This role supports the estimating and project management functions within a plumbing and electrical construction company. The Assistant Estimator/Project Admin will be responsible for reviewing construction documents, performing quantity takeoffs, assisting with bid proposals, managing change orders, coordinating with vendors and subcontractors, tracking project costs, and performing various administrative tasks to ensure smooth project execution.

Requirements

  • Previous construction estimating experience required.
  • Experience in plumbing, electrical, or mechanical construction preferred.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Professional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with estimating software (Bluebeam, Accubid)
  • Basic Knowledge of construction contracts, RFIs, submittals, and change order processes.
  • Understanding of material procurement and vendor pricing.
  • Experience working with commercial and residential construction projects.

Responsibilities

  • Review construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs for plumbing and electrical projects.
  • Assist in preparing estimates and bid proposals.
  • Create and manage change orders throughout the life of a project.
  • Request and organize pricing from vendors and subcontractors.
  • Track project costs and assist with budget reviews.
  • Maintain bid logs, project files, and estimating records.
  • Coordinate with project managers, field supervisors, and customers.
  • Assist with project scheduling and procurement activities as needed.
  • Attend project meetings when required.
  • Perform administrative and support tasks related to estimating and project management.
