About The Position

This position is responsible for leading equipment operations for assigned sports. Duties include procuring, supervising, and maintaining uniforms, equipment, and gear for all athletes, coaches, and support staff, as well as ensuring that all health and safety measures are implemented and maintained for equipment and apparel. The position also assists in designing team uniforms and practice apparel while adhering to AWPAA brand standards and NCAA and league requirements. This role upholds the ethics and high standards of The United States Military Academy and Army West Point Athletics.

  • Ensures all equipment meets USMA, league, NCAA or other applicable health and safety standards and best practices.
  • Ensures proper sanitation of all apparel and equipment.
  • Provides all athletes with appropriate playing apparel and proper fitting protective equipment.
  • Keeps up to date on health and safety regulations and best practices.
  • Applies knowledge of the organization, its policies and regulations.
  • Ensures all operations are in compliance with USMA, NCAA and Conference regulations.
  • Adheres to all department-wide management controls.
  • Participates in training programs as required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all equipment operations for assigned sports, serving as the primary point of contact for coaches, staff, and athletes.
  • Manage all team ordering with AWPAA apparel and equipment partners for assigned sports.
  • Manage the equipment/apparel budget and department credit card (if applicable), coordinating with the head coach and sport administrator as needed.
  • Help design team uniforms and practice apparel while adhering to AWPAA brand standards and NCAA and league requirements.
  • Monitor the maintenance needs of equipment room machinery and schedule repairs as needed.
  • Establish and implement departmental protocols to maintain an accurate inventory system.
  • Manage all practice and gameday operational needs for assigned sports.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise cadet managers (if applicable).
  • Use discretion to ensure all equipment meets USMA, league, NCAA or other applicable health and safety standards and best practices.
  • Perform routine and emergent maintenance to ensure healthy and safety standards are maintained.
  • Ensure proper sanitation of all apparel and equipment, including, coordination of team laundry operations throughout the year.
  • Provide all athletes with appropriate playing apparel and proper fitting protective equipment.
  • Responsible for keeping up to date on health and safety regulations and best practices.
  • Apply knowledge of the organization, its policies and regulations to carry out a wide variety of administrative functions related to the organization and its mission.
  • Coordinate with internal and external constituents regarding equipment operations.
  • Ensure all operations are in compliance with USMA, NCAA and Conference regulations.
  • Adhere to all department-wide management controls and participate in training programs as required.
  • Special projects and other duties as assigned by the Sr. Associate Athletics Director, Internal Operations
