The Assistant Equine Trainer will be responsible for evaluating new horses' needs and determining their training direction. This role involves keeping detailed daily notes on each horse's progress and overseeing the notes of staff working with the animals. The Assistant Equine Trainer will also assist in the overall evaluation of equines, including their behavior, medical condition, and adoptability, and will support staff or veterinarians during medical evaluations. A key part of the role is meeting with potential adopters to discuss an equine's temperament and rideability to ensure the best match. Additionally, the Assistant Equine Trainer will help the Head Trainer conduct Natural Horsemanship Clinics and public demonstrations to highlight the Humane Society of North Texas (HSNT) resources for potential adopters. Responsibilities also include providing daily care for all animals, such as feeding, watering, stocking feed and supply bins, and updating feed sheets. The position requires adherence to established feeding, sanitation, and medical procedures, and representing HSNT with excellent customer service while protecting confidential information of customers and donors. Additional tasks may be assigned by the Head Trainer. This position is for up to 30-40 hours per week.
