About The Position

This is a full-time attorney position responsible for enforcing and collecting child and spousal support orders issued in Douglas County domestic cases. Duties include reviewing and modifying child support orders, meeting with pro se litigants or retained counsel regarding child support or spousal support related issues, preparing discovery requests, pleadings, child support worksheets, and preparing cases for and attending a weekly trial docket. The attorney must maintain a working relationship with paralegals and court staff and be able to calmly work with diverse members of the public in routine and difficult situations.

Requirements

  • Attorney in good standing and licensed to practice law in Kansas
  • Thorough knowledge of domestic law issues, specifically in support matters
  • Knowledge of judicial procedures and the rules of evidence
  • Knowledge of the Kansas Child Support Guidelines
  • Excellent legal research, writing, analytic, and communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills with a desire to serve the public

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years of litigation experience in domestic law
  • 2 years support enforcement experience
