About The Position

Reporting to the Distribution Center (DC) Manager, the Assistant DC Manager’s main responsibility is to assist in overseeing all operation functions of the DC while helping manage the operations staff, prepare work schedules, and assign duties.

Requirements

3+ years in a management level position with experience managing staff.
Experience working in a distribution and retail environment.
Basic computer skills and working knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
Experience working directly with customers.
Minimum High School Degree
Valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

College Degree in a related field
Prior experience in process improvement (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen)

Responsibilities

Schedules deliveries and labor hours, maintains availability, and routes trucks efficiently.
Provides real-time support to service centers, delivery team, and customers.
Ensures compliance with routing software and delivery KPIs.
Ensures that pre-trip truck inspections are completed and vehicles are in proper working order.
Coordinates vehicle maintenance and repairs and maintains equipment and driver supplies.
Supports compliance with DOT regulations and internal standards.
Supervises daily operations of the delivery team, including routing, compliance, and performance.
Provides real-time support, ensures adherence to safety and service standards, and fosters accountability through coaching, training, and performance monitoring.
Assists with deliveries or conduct delivery inspections as needed.
Oversees daily activities of warehouse personnel, ensuring efficient workflows, adherence to safety standards, and accurate inventory handling.
Provides training, assigns tasks, monitors performance, and supports team development to meet operational goals.
Assists with loading/unloading, cycle counting, picking, packing, back orders and other hands-on warehouse tasks as needed.
Leads safety initiatives, daily safety briefings, warm-up/stretch sessions and ensures adherence to company protocols and local regulations.
Oversees DOT and TMS compliance, including documentation.
Tracks and enforce operational KPIs.
Participates in the recruitment, onboarding, and training of warehouse and delivery personnel.
Provides ongoing coaching and performance feedback to support employee development and operational excellence.
Maintains and analyzes operational reports and KPIs including cycle counts, delivery performance, labor utilization, and warehouse productivity.
Use tools and internal dashboards to track trends and support decision-making.
Serves as a point of contact for escalating customer issues related to deliveries, pickups, or product condition.
Coordinates with internal teams to resolve problems promptly and ensure customer satisfaction.
Monitors inventory levels, ensures accuracy of warehouse stock, and oversees the movement of goods through various stages (download, cleaning, repair, staging).
Supports cycle count accuracy and Days in Location compliance.
Sources and manages warehouse supplies, tools, and safety gear.
May coordinate with third-party vendors for temporary labor, transportation, or equipment servicing.
Leads or supports special projects such as warehouse layout optimization, inbound/outbound freight planning, and implementation of new processes or systems.
Identify opportunities for operational efficiency and cost savings.
