Your Department AJC's Regional Offices connect the local communities with AJC’s global advocacy work to enhance the well-being of the Jewish people and Israel. We maintain the agency's nationwide presence by attracting leaders and donors to AJC, enhancing the organization’s influence with key local, national, and international decision makers and stakeholders, implementing advocacy initiatives at the state and local level, and establishing and nurturing community relationships. Your Impact This position makes an impact at AJC by managing work with moderate, but important impact on the organization's mission and goals. Works with regular oversight to solve moderately complex problems and make moderate and significant decisions. Incumbents manage programs, projects, initiatives, and events that advance AJC’s mission and advocacy efforts. Working under direct supervision, this position is responsible for planning and executing departmental strategies, engaging and communicating with influential stakeholders, and building coalitions and partnerships. Your Role Contribute to the development and execution of the department's strategy, goals, objectives, and action plans Manage and facilitate advocacy and outreach programs, projects, initiatives, events, meetings, trainings, and/or missions Implement new opportunities to expand departmental initiatives beyond existing programs May participate and support the work of Boards, committees, task forces, or working groups Leverage resources to help build awareness of and support for the AJC and department initiatives May assist with development efforts, including participation in fundraising initiatives and plans, donor outreach, providing materials for grant applications and reports, and related activities Maintain and manage programmatic spending for initiatives they work on Research, monitor, and report on developments, issues, and trends impacting the department and AJC priorities Coordinate, attend, and/or lead meetings Develop relationships with and engage strategic contacts, groups, and organizations Support the building of coalitions, partnerships, and initiatives with organizations and other external partners to further AJC’s mission Assist in representing AJC and the department in the community, at functions, and in other public forums Draft, edit, and disseminate communications resources and materials Specific to This Role Primary functions of the Assistant Director will focus on executing and operationalizing the region’s governmental affairs, diplomatic relations, intergroup and interreligious engagement, education (K-12/College/Holocaust awareness), PR/Media and advocacy programming in these areas. This includes: Advocacy Building and managing a proactive outreach pipeline across the Consular Corps, legislative offices, and intergroup/interfaith partners to expand AJC’s visibility and influence Coordinating high-level meetings, briefings, and visiting expert engagements to advance advocacy priorities Leading the planning and execution of key regional advocacy events and meetings, including flagship convenings such as the annual Community Leadership Passover Seder and Standing Together: A Community Response to Antisemitism, and strategic community engagements Managing internal systems and processes that support regional advocacy goals, including tracking OKRs, maintaining CRM (Raiser’s Edge) advocacy data, and ensuring consistent reporting and follow-up for all advocacy activity. Driving consistency in communications and stakeholder updates, including newsletters, board communications, regional social media, and outreach materials aligned with regional strategy Leadership Supporting Regional Board and lay leader engagement through meeting coordination, communications, and feedback loops to leadership Manage the Advocacy Committee of the Regional Board of Directors including setting agendas, meeting with Co-Chairs, and conducting the work described in the advocacy section above. This role serves as a key execution partner to the Deputy Regional Director, ensuring seamless implementation of strategic priorities and enabling increased focus on high-level relationship management, fundraising, and leadership.
