About The Position

The Assistant Director of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) Services provides leadership, oversight, and strategic support to BCH’s I/DD Programs. This position partners closely with the Director of I/DD Services to ensure high-quality, person-centered services that promote dignity, independence, and well-being for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Assistant Director ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, supports program growth, and upholds the Christian mission and values of Baptist Children’s Homes of NC, Inc. They fulfill other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Personal commitment to Jesus Christ and alignment with the statement of faith of BCH
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, Special Education, or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in I/DD services, including supervisory of leadership responsibly
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise and support professional staff
  • Knowledge of person-centered planning and trauma-informed care
  • Ability to analyze data, manage multiple priorities, and make sound decisions
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic health record systems
  • Ability to travel statewide, as required
  • Assure staff coverage in the residential homes
  • PRN Direct Care coverage, as needed
  • Valid North Carolina drivers license with acceptable driving record
  • Successful completion of background checks and other pre-employment requirements
  • Professes to be a Christian believer
  • Submits an individual Statement of Faith, Acknowledgement, and Pledge as part of employment requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Knowledge of North Carolina I/DD regulations, waiver services, and service delivery systems preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the oversight of I/DD residential and/or support services to ensure high-quality, person-centered care
  • Support the development, implementation, and evaluation of program services, policies, and procedures
  • Promote best practices in services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
  • Serve as acting Director of I/DD Services in the Director’s absence, as assigned
  • Ensure programs comply with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including NC DHHS and Medicaid waiver requirements
  • Support licensure, accreditation, audits, and surveys; assist in developing and implementing corrective action plans as needed
  • Monitor quality assurance indicators and assist with continuous PQI/KPI improvement initiatives
  • Complies with HIPAA and agency procedures concerning confidentiality
  • Support program administrators and supervisors through coaching, consultation, and program-solving
  • Assist with recruitment, onboarding, training, and retention of qualified staff
  • Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and professional growth
  • Provide guidance in employee relations matters in coordination with Human Resources
  • Assist with program budgeting, financial oversight, and resource allocation
  • Monitor expenditures and support fiscal responsibility across I/DD programs
  • Contribute to strategic planning and program expansion efforts
  • Collaborate with community partners, families, guardians, and referral sources
  • Advocate for individuals served and assist in resolving concerns or grievances
  • Represent BCH I/DD Services at meetings, trainings, and community events as needed
  • Support and model the Christian mission, values, and ethical standards of Baptist Children’s Homes of North Carolina
  • Ensure services are delivered in a manner that respects the dignity, worth, and spiritual needs of individuals served
