About The Position

Progress Foundation has an exciting temporary opportunity for an enthusiastic program leader based at Dorine Loso House. Named after longtime Progress supporter and San Francisco public health advocate Dorine Loso, this transitional residential program was established in 2007. This program is designed primarily for clients returning from often long stays locked in institutions or other long term care settings. The programs offers comprehensive in-house day treatment programs for the residents of the program. The maximum length of stay for the program is one year.

Requirements

  • AA in any field + 6 years experience in any mental health related field
  • BA in any field + 4 years experience in any mental health related field
  • MA in any field + 2 years experience in any mental health related field
  • MHRS Certification required for this position.
  • Must demonstrate strong clinical, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with staff, clients and other providers both orally and in writing.
  • Basic word processing skills.
  • Must demonstrate an acceptable level of maturity, good judgment and emotional stability.
  • Must be able to negotiate several flights of stairs and lift and carry 20 lb packages multiple times during each work shift.
  • Upon receipt of a job offer and before commencement of employment, must submit to a fingerprint check and health screening exam in order to obtain clearance from the State Dept. of Social Services, Community Care Licensing.

Nice To Haves

  • Specific experience in residential treatment and/or knowledge of social rehabilitation is preferred.
  • Valid California driver's license and insurability under the agency's auto insurance policies are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Under the supervision of the Program Director, the Assistant Director supervises staff of this unique long term adult psychiatric transitional residential treatment program.
  • The Assistant Director manages the flow of clients into and out of the program.
  • Promoting the philosophy of social rehabilitation as it applies to residential treatment; developing and maintaining good working relationships with client referral sources and other related mental health programs; reviewing all charts and client records; assisting in staff training; coordinating the staff schedule and coordinating the collection of client data.
  • Maintain computer requirements of the City and County of San Francisco Community Behavioral Health Services.
  • Advocates for and participates in the maintenance of the facility and performs all duties of the Counselor position as necessary and appropriate.
