Phipps Neighborhoods, in collaboration with the New York City Housing Authority and the New York City Department of Youth and Community Development, operates a Cornerstone Community Center. This center offers after-school, young adult, and senior programming, along with special events and activities, in partnership with local agencies and nonprofit organizations, at no cost to participants. The Cornerstone model brings together a strong and active set of partners to address the needs of students, seniors, residents, and community members. It employs a governance structure that relies on strong collaboration, partnerships, and access to resources and opportunities under the guidance and partnership of community advisory boards. To maximize the ability to provide communities with the resources needed to increase opportunities, strengthen neighborhoods, and transcend poverty, Phipps Neighborhoods programs work through a community impact model. Cornerstone Community Centers are an important component of that model. The Assistant Director is a critical change agent who will work with school and youth development programs to leverage Phipps Neighborhoods, as well as other local services, agencies, programs, and resources, to ensure student and young adult success and positive social, educational, and health outcomes for seniors and community members. Cornerstone staff members work in a team structure, where they collaborate daily to meet the needs of students, young adults, seniors, and community members. Team members work together to create a safe and engaging environment that ensures programming for our students while focusing on academic and enrichment activities that support social-emotional learning daily within programming.
