About The Position

Elena’s Way, a Preble Street Wellness Shelter, provides shelter and intensive services to up to 40 individuals experiencing homelessness and complex physical and mental health needs in a 24-hour trauma-informed environment grounded in social work and medical best practices. As a member of the Elena’s Way Management Team, the Assistant Director supports the Director and provides management and leadership to Elena’s Way, ensuring the provision of high-quality services in alignment with the agency mission. The scope of the Assistant Director’s management and leadership responsibilities includes program administration and implementation, quality of care, staff supervision and support, and ensuring the safety of clients and staff within Elena’s Way. The Assistant Director provides comprehensive, substantial support to the Program Director in all aspects of program management, including program development and evaluation, resource and systems development, assessment of clients, administration of MaineCare billed services, community relations, and grants management. Population Served: Individuals who are currently experiencing unsheltered homelessness or are otherwise assessed as extremely vulnerable with complex mental health, substance use-related, and physical health needs.

Requirements

  • At least three years of relevant experience in nonprofit social services management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Program management experience.
  • Strong administrative and systems management skills.
  • Ability to recognize, utilize, optimize, and address program and/or organizational strengths, weakness, opportunities, and threats.
  • An understanding of and alignment with Preble Street’s mission.
  • Commitment to providing low-barrier, high-quality services to people experiencing homelessness.

Nice To Haves

  • Licensure or certification permitting the provision of mental health diagnoses under MaineCare rules and regulations, such as LCSW, LMSW-cc, LCPC, or LCPC-c.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the Director and provides management and leadership to Elena’s Way, ensuring the provision of high-quality services in alignment with the agency mission.
  • Manages and leads program administration and implementation, quality of care, staff supervision and support, and ensuring the safety of clients and staff within Elena’s Way.
  • Provides comprehensive support to the Program Director in all aspects of program management, including program development and evaluation, resource and systems development, assessment of clients, administration of MaineCare billed services, community relations, and grants management.
