About The Position

The Workforce Strategy & Intelligence team within People, Purpose & Brand is seeking an experienced individual contributor to support Liberty Mutual’s Technology organization. The role partners with senior Technology and talent leaders to address complex workforce questions, shape workforce strategy, and inform talent decisions in a dynamic environment. The Assistant Director leads high-impact workforce analytics and strategic workforce planning initiatives from problem definition through recommendations and action. The role helps leaders anticipate workforce needs, understand emerging opportunities and risks, and make informed strategic decisions. It requires navigating ambiguity, structuring complex problems independently, connecting insights across domains, and influencing senior stakeholders. The role also advances the team’s analytical capabilities, methodologies, and workforce intelligence approach. Candidates living within 50 miles of Boston, MA; Portsmouth, NH; Seattle, WA; Indianapolis, IN; Columbus, OH; or Plano, TX follow a hybrid schedule, working in the office two days per week. Otherwise, the role is remote.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Analytics, Business, Human Resources, Economics, or a related field.
At least 7 years of experience in analytics, workforce analytics, HR analytics, strategic workforce planning, or a related field.
Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, including independently structuring ambiguous problems, integrating complex data from multiple sources, identifying patterns, and developing actionable strategic insights.
Experience leading complex, cross-functional analytical or strategic initiatives from problem definition through recommendation and implementation.
Ability to navigate significant ambiguity, exercise sound judgment with incomplete information, anticipate risks and dependencies, and independently determine a path forward.
Ability to connect workforce insights to business, financial, technology, and talent strategies and translate analysis into implications for senior leaders.
Exceptional communication, storytelling, and executive presence, including the ability to explain complex analysis, recommend actions, and influence senior and non-technical audiences.
Strong consultation and relationship-management skills, including constructively challenging assumptions, shaping stakeholder thinking, navigating differing perspectives, and building alignment.
Advanced proficiency in SQL/Snowflake, Excel, and Power BI, including independently querying, combining, transforming, and validating complex data across sources and maintaining ownership of data logic, definitions, and quality.
Curiosity and practical experience applying current AI and emerging technologies to improve analytical quality, efficiency, and scalability.
Experience leading multiple complex workstreams and projects simultaneously, with strong organizational, prioritization, and project leadership skills.
Ability to raise others’ capability through thought leadership, coaching, knowledge sharing, and scalable tools, methodologies, or best practices.

Responsibilities

Structure and conduct sophisticated workforce analyses using complex internal and external data, connecting workforce, business, financial, and talent signals to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
Translate analytical findings into executive-level insights, recommendations, and compelling data stories.
Lead end-to-end strategic workforce planning engagements, including workforce hypotheses, supply and demand modeling, skills analysis, gap identification, scenario development, and actionable strategies.
Shape analytical approaches and adapt methodologies to complex and evolving business needs.
Advise Technology and talent leaders by framing complex workforce questions, challenging assumptions, evaluating trade-offs, and providing data-driven recommendations.
Advance workforce intelligence capabilities by integrating internal and external insights on workforce, skills, AI, labor markets, financial matters, and business trends.
Identify new approaches and analytical capabilities that help leaders anticipate workforce needs and make proactive decisions.
Build partnerships with senior stakeholders across Technology, HR, Finance, Skills, AI Transformation, and other enterprise priorities; connect perspectives, navigate competing priorities, and drive alignment.
Develop and improve analytical approaches, models, tools, and frameworks; share expertise, mentor and advise peers, and serve as a thought partner on complex work.
Evaluate emerging technologies and identify opportunities to improve the quality, scalability, and impact of workforce analytics.
Independently lead complex work across multiple priorities, exercising judgment and accountability, resolving ambiguity, identifying risks, and driving work through delivery and stakeholder action.
