About The Position

The SAIC Admissions team supports one of the nation’s leading art and design institutions, connecting prospective students with interdisciplinary programs, world-class resources and a vibrant creative community. The department plays a key role in recruiting, preparing and guiding future artists, designers and scholars through the admissions process. This position is responsible for representing SAIC to prospective students on and off campus as well as virtually, and for coordinating and carrying out the regional recruitment of new international undergraduate students. This position will play a key role in the admissions process and will be involved in the full range of recruitment activities, including participating in extensive online experiences and travel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s of Fine Arts Degree or equivalent experience
  • 1-3 years of prior recruitment, college admissions and/or student affairs experience preferred.
  • Strong written, oral and cross-cultural communication skills
  • Extensive evening and weekend availability to work.
  • A valid Driver’s license & passport is required.
  • Interest in contemporary visual arts, and the ability to speak, review, and write clearly about the work of young artists
  • Exceptional written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong administrative, organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • A valid driver’s license and passport
  • Ability to travel throughout the U.S. and to key international markets
  • Computer skills on a PC and Mac including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office & Google Suite applications.
  • Ability to learn additional software as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in higher education admissions a plus
  • Experience working directly with CRM software (Slate, Salesforce, etc.) and PeopleSoft Student Information System is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the implementation of the undergraduate first-time freshmen and transfer recruitment strategy.
  • Interviews, counsels and registers prospective students and manages an assigned territory through all stages of the enrollment funnel: prospect to matriculate.
  • Event management by representing SAIC at designated virtual, in-person as well as on campus events to deliver presentations about SAIC, and review portfolios of prospective students.
  • Lead and execute events through the stages of crowd raising to set-up and breakdown.
  • Visit both virtually and/or in person an assigned minimum number of community colleges, high schools and community organizations within the territory to meet with art teachers, college counselors, and other educational professionals and deliver presentations about SAIC and review student art portfolios.
  • Complete file reviews, required paperwork and data entry.
  • Required documentation includes, but is not limited to: school visit reports, portfolio evaluations, recruitment event reports, travel and expense reports, preparatory and follow-up phone contacts with teachers, counselors and prospective students, outreach initiatives with territory admits and merit scholarship recipients.
  • Reviews admissions applications and portfolios
  • Maintains membership in professional organizations
  • Maintains an understanding of the latest trends in student recruitment and willingness to stay current regarding cultural competency knowledge and lead with a Diversity Equity and Inclusion lens.
  • Liaises with other student affairs and academic departments as necessary including but not limited to graduate admissions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
