About The Position

The Human Services Director - Supported Community Living provides strategic leadership and vision for the team, driving service excellence and building support systems to enhance the quality of life for individuals served. This position fosters organizational growth by developing client relationships and delivering high-quality services adapted to evolving community needs. Additionally, the Director directly supervises the Housing Manager and Hourly Manager, offering guidance, performance feedback, legislative alignment, and engagement with community partners.

Requirements

  • Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
  • Have knowledge of auditing and monitoring procedures.
  • Have working knowledge of applicable laws and regulations affecting Iowa.
  • Have working knowledge of privacy laws and regulations.
  • Must possess strong leadership skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office that includes Word, Excel, Outlook and the ability to learn computer programs.
  • Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with staff and provide instruction and direction to employees on maintaining compliance with policies, rules and procedures for scheduling and timekeeping.
  • Ability to respond well under pressure.
  • Must have a bachelor’s degree in human services, social work or related field and/or four or more years of related experience.
  • The employee must provide and maintain a valid driver's license for the entire duration of their employment and be eligible for the agency’s vehicle insurance.

Responsibilities

  • Adheres to and upholds To The Rescue’s mission, values, and operational policies.
  • Ensures staffing, hours within budget, day to day operations.
  • Cultivates strategic relationships with service providers, local businesses, and community organizations to support mission expansion.
  • Collaborates with internal stakeholders and the Executive Director to execute business plans, advance organizational growth, and align departmental policies and procedures.
  • Oversees staff onboarding, required compliance training, ongoing coaching, and performance evaluations to foster employee development and retention.
  • Partners with talent acquisition to maintain optimal staffing levels and drive team retention strategies.
  • Creates and maintains engaging work environment for human service housing team.
  • Oversee multiple projects or process improvement initiatives.
  • Responsible for analyzing performance data, performing root cause analysis, creating process improvement solutions and implementation of the solutions.
  • Responsible for facilitating meetings with multiple levels of respon.
  • Monitors monthly schedules to ensure compliance with authorized service hours, labor budgets, and employee status requirements.
  • Maintains program oversight for daily documentation, medication administration, and regulatory compliance.
  • Serves as risk management liaison; reviews incident reports, analyzes trends, and implements corrective actions to improve care quality for individuals served.
  • Manages on-call systems to ensure continuous, effective coverage for housing programs.
  • Provides on call.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
