The Assistant Director for Sorority & Fraternity Life (SFL) serves as a member of the SFL team, contributing to the overall strategic planning, and is the primary Multicultural Greek and Fraternal Council (MGFC) advisor. The MGFC community includes three individual Alpha chapters and is the birthplace of the first historically Black intercollegiate Greek-letter fraternity. The NHPC, NALFO, and NAPA organizations are all represented in the MGFC community. In this role, the Assistant Director advises student leaders in council program planning, community service coordination, recruitment and intake planning, and building relationships with other Cornell community student groups and departments with shared missions. This role will also serve as a chapter coach supporting a portfolio of approximately 15 university-recognized sororities and fraternities across all three governing councils (IFC, PHC, and MGFC). They will help student leaders through officer training/transition, chapter goal setting, leadership development, risk management education, health and well-being initiatives, and the promotion of diversity, equity, and inclusion. This position will collaborate with the overall SFL team to develop, implement, and evaluate educational programs and services for the sorority and fraternity community, as well as, co-plan and oversee small and large-scale events. In addition, this position serves as a rotating Administrator On-Call for the University, managing after-hours crisis-response situations and will actively engage across Campus and Community Engagement (CCE) and Student and Campus Life (SCL), by serving on teams, committees and workgroups, as needed.
