About The Position

Temple University's Division of Student Affairs is searching for an Assistant Director, Residential Life-Operations. This position requires frequent and meaningful interaction with residential students, parents/families, faculty, administrators, and community partners. The Assistant Director has essential functions related to staff supervision and leadership, student learning and engagement, student behavior and incident response, training and ongoing development, administrative and project management tasks, and other general responsibilities that support UHRL and DoSA, and their shared commitment to student success. The Assistant Director leads the day-to-day supervision and management of assigned residence halls, including the direct supervision, mentoring, and development of five (5) to seven (7) full-time professional staff, as well as the indirect supervision of the Front Desk Managers and student staff and student leaders within the assigned area. Additionally, the Assistant Director manages several administrative and operational functions for the department, including, but not limited to, the coordination of all residence hall move-in/out periods, damage billing process, and front desk systems. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in student Personnel, Higher Education, Counseling, or related field.
  • Four year’s progressive post-Masters’ professional experience in residential life and/or housing operations.
  • Experience in building collaborative partnerships with faculty, administrators, students, parents/families, and community partners.
  • Demonstrated supervision, development, mentoring, and motivation of a diverse student staff team and ability to articulate these concepts to professional staff teams.
  • Exhibited work with diverse populations and developing inclusive communities and staff teams.
  • Demonstrated incident response and crisis management skills, including problem-solving and critical thinking.
  • Knowledge of fiscal management competencies.
  • Ability to manage multiple collaborative projects and systems in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work independently and efficiently.
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Must live within one hour of campus for on-call responsibilities.
  • Must be able to occasionally work evenings and weekends.
