About The Position

This role involves establishing and maintaining program governance for mid-scale facility projects across schools, ensuring alignment with budgets, departmental priorities, and district goals. The position requires defining project scopes, budgets, schedules, and quality expectations, leading pre-construction planning, and coordinating cross-functional teams and contracted professionals through all project phases. The Assistant Director will develop and oversee policies and procedures for effective project and program management, direct project workflows, monitor productivity, and implement quality assurance. This role also serves as a liaison between Maintenance Services and Construction Projects Management, triaging requests and assigning appropriate delivery methods. Oversight of Operations Division ancillary services is also a key responsibility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, Planning, Business Administration, Public Administration, or other related field.
  • Six years of progressively responsible experience in facilities maintenance, construction project management, or program management.
  • One year of experience with contract administration, building codes, grant administration, and/or procurement.
  • Proficiency with project, portfolio, or program management tools and software.
  • Valid Florida driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Lean Six Sigma or other related certifications.
  • Current registration as Professional Engineer or Architect.
  • Valid Class A General Contractor license.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain program governance to bundle, prioritize, and sequence mid-scale facility projects across schools, ensuring alignment with approved budgets, departmental priorities, and district goals.
  • Define project and program scopes, budgets, schedules, performance standards, and quality expectations; lead pre-construction planning activities as applicable.
  • Coordinate cross functional teams and contracted professionals throughout design, procurement, and construction phases, ensure adherence to schedules, budgets, and financial control requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee policies, procedures, and best practices for the effective management of mid-scale facility projects and multi-site programs.
  • Direct project workflows, monitor productivity and efficiency, and implement quality assurance and continuous improvement processes.
  • Serve as the bridge between Maintenance Services and Construction Projects Management, triage requests and assign the appropriate delivery method or project pathway.
  • Provide oversight and management of Operations Division ancillary services, as directed.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
