The Center for Student Involvement at Western Connecticut State University promotes and encourages student life on campus, such as clubs and other co-curricular activities. CSI manages over 80 clubs on campus, including Student Government Association, Program and Activities Council, and Fraternity and Sorority Life. Through CSI, students can start their own clubs, plan trips and events, and complete the Leadership, Compassion and Creativity Certificate program. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Three (3) years of experience working with student organizations.
  • Decision making skills and the ability to direct the efforts of other individuals.
  • Knowledge of spreadsheet applications, preferably Microsoft Excel and other components of Microsoft Office suite.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and maintain financial records.
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the planning of and develops and implements a tracking and approval process for all student organization travel, PSA and Honorarium process as well as assisting clubs with the university purchasing process.
  • Assists the Director in the selection, training, and evaluation of the CSI student employees.
  • Responsible for training the leaders, members, and advisors of student organizations on all Student Activity Fund (SAF) policies which include travel, PSA and Honorarium process as well as the university purchasing process.
  • Works with the Student Government Association to revise all student organization procedures and manuals and distributes such to all clubs and organizations.
  • Develops and implements training programs for student organizations.
  • Serves as the SGA liaison between the Center for Student Involvement and the Finance and Administration division with respect to the support of all SGA student organizations and assists with reconciliation of advances, purchase orders and event registration for student organizations.
  • Maintains the CSI Clubs Portal for all aspects of the department including but not limited to student organizations, access, and events.
  • Acts as a counselor to students as necessary.
  • Prepares pertinent reports as directed.
  • Coordinates all department assessment efforts.
  • Maintains contact with club leadership in regard to their respective budgets.
  • Provides support to the Student Activity Financial Manager.
  • Maintains communication with the SGA Vice President of Finance, including, but not limited to, attending SGA Finance Committee meetings.
  • In collaboration with the University Box Office Manager, administers and oversees box office and ticketing operations via the WCSU ticketing system for student group travel and events.
  • Order supplies for clubs/students using WCSU tax-exempt accounts.
  • Recommends policies, procedures, and fiscal advice to the Director of the Center for Student Involvement, SGA, and other clubs.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities related to those enumerated above which do not alter the basic level and responsibilities of the position.
