About The Position

The Assistant Director/Internship and Co-Op Coordinator supports Hampton University students in identifying, securing, and successfully completing internship and cooperative education opportunities. The position serves as a primary resource for students, employers, faculty, and academic departments regarding experiential learning and career readiness.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in career development, counseling, higher education, psychology, human resources, education, business, or a related field.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong presentation and workshop-facilitation

  • Organization and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and support the University’s internship and cooperative education processes, including reviewing student internship documentation and ensuring required information is complete.
  • Advise students regarding internship and co-op opportunities, career exploration, professional development, and experiential learning.
  • Conduct individual and group resume reviews, mock interviews, career coaching, and career readiness workshops.
  • Assist Career Center leadership with departmental initiatives, assessment, reporting, special projects and other duties as assigned.
