About The Position

The Assistant Director of Self-Direction will develop a cohesive team that provides support and education focused on reimbursable offerings while considering the wants, needs, hopes and dreams of each person served. The Assistant Director will provide direct supervision, role-modeling, training, and support to the Reimbursable Services Coordinators in their mission to support people in achieving their personal goals, while promoting a sense of self-confidence and independence. In collaboration with the Director or Chief Strategy Officer, the Assistant Director will provide administrative oversight, supervision, and guidance for AIM’s Self Direction Department, assuring appropriate supports and services are in place to meet the utmost quality standards. The Assistant Direction of Self-Direction Reimbursable Services will be responsible for supporting the Reimbursable Services team with reviewing and organizing all community events and opportunities to assure they are reimbursable within the New York State Self-Direction model. The Assistant Director of Self-Direction will embrace the mission and core values of AIM Services. They will support the Lead SD Coordinators in understanding and implementing all AIM Self Direction policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • 4 years of experience working with people with disabilities. Experience in Self-Direction preferred.
  • At least 2 years of progressive leadership experience.
  • Valid NYS Driver’s License acceptable to Agency Insurance standards. Maintain valid insurance and provide insurance card if using your own vehicle.
  • Ability to exhibit/maintain a professional, kind, courteous and patient manner at all times
  • Complete the Broker Training Institute (BTI)
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Reading and Math skills at a level to perform job duties
  • Demonstrated interest and ability to make possible the personal outcomes of individuals receiving services
  • Adherence to Agency policies and procedures

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide role modeling and oversight, consistent with established culture/policies/procedures/regulatory requirements to the Reimbursable Services Coordinators.
  • Regularly review procedures and practices, in conjunction with the Director and Associate Executive Director; to assist in developing and implementing systems to promote person centered supports and services.
  • Participate in the interviewing and selection process of the SD department.
  • Seek and/or provide appropriate training and leadership development opportunities for yourself and the Self Direction team.
  • Implement, review and revise established processes and systems to ensure accountability, optimize available funding, and increase/improve productivity. Implement new processes/systems as appropriate.
  • Participate on committees as assigned or needed.
  • Any and all other related duties as requested by supervisor.
