Assistant Director of Resident Services
About The Position
Enhances and improves the SRIM experience specifically in Heartful Care for our residents and their families. Accepts management responsibilities of the Nursing Department in the absence of the director of resident services, and assists in managing the care of all residents. This role involves demonstrating excellent decision-making skills, setting and managing priorities, and communicating clearly, accurately, and in a timely manner. The position also includes assisting with recruitment processes, monitoring associate performance, coaching, and completing evaluations. Financial oversight includes monitoring expenditures and scheduling associates to ensure efficiency. The role requires providing "hands on" care as needed, assisting with resident evaluations, and participating in meetings with leadership. Key responsibilities include ensuring medication order accuracy, investigating incident reports, and adhering to ALF regulations. Maintaining a safe and secure working environment, practicing good body mechanics, and understanding emergency procedures are crucial. Compliance with HIPAA regulations and taking initiative on special projects are also expected. The Assistant Director directly supervises employees in the Resident Services and Nursing Departments, carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws, including training, assigning work, appraising performance, and resolving issues.
Requirements
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Knowledge of word processing software, electronic medical records.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- One to two years related experience and/or training.
- Valid Nursing License.

Responsibilities

- Assists in monitoring expenditures weekly to ensure compliance with department budgeted monthly amounts.
- Assists in scheduling associates based upon budgeted FTE's and prepares assignments to ensure efficiency.
- Provides “hands on” care on an as needed basis to meet the needs of the residents.
- Assists in performing evaluation for residents to determine level of care and services.
- Participates in monthly ECC & LNS meeting with Director of Resident Services and Corporate Director of Nursing.
- Ensures medication orders are accurate on the MORS.
- Assists in reviewing and investigating all incidents reports and recommends appropriate action/follow up to the Executive Director.
- Understands and adheres to the ALF regulations pertaining to assisted living health care laws.
- Maintains a safe and secure working environment free of objects/situations that could cause harm and/or falls to residents, families, visitors, and associates.
- Practices good body mechanics and safe working habits.
- Knows, understands, and follows established policy and procedures in emergency situations.
- Is considered essential personnel especially during emergencies.
- Wears clean and appropriate dress per established policy.
- Understands and complies with HIPAA regulations.
- Takes initiative in work, seeks out additional information and offers solutions/suggestions.
- Willingly takes on special projects or assignments outside of regular duties.
- Performs all other reasonable duties as assigned or as requested.
