About The Position

The Assistant Director of Nursing will be responsible for assisting the Director of Nursing (DON) in managing the nursing department to maintain quality standards of care. This includes providing consultation to medical staff, department heads, and the Administrator on nursing service matters. The role involves contributing to the interpretation of nursing philosophy and establishing departmental goals. The Assistant Director will also support regulatory compliance, ensure effective communication among nursing staff for optimal care delivery, and promote positive employee relations, customer service, and ongoing staff education. This position may involve directing the department in the absence of the Director of Nursing and ensuring the integrity of educational programs and staff development, including identifying employees for leadership advancement.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years nursing supervisory experience required.
  • Travel as required for regional or corporate meetings and marketing duties.
  • Currently licensed as RN in state of practice.

Nice To Haves

  • A minimum of one year of long-term or acute health care experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide input into interpretation of nursing philosophy and assists in establishing departmental goals and objectives.
  • Assist the Director of Nursing with regulatory compliance and ensure effective communication strategies with all levels of nursing staff to promote effective care delivery.
  • Along with the Director of Nursing, promote positive employee relations, strong customer service ethic and commitment to ongoing staff education and training, May exercise direction over the department in the absence of the Director of Nursing.
  • Ensure Integrity of educational programs offered within the facility.
