About The Position

PrimeCare Medical is currently looking for a Registered Nurse (RN) to work as the Day Shift Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) in the medical department at the Butler County Prison located in Butler, PA. This is a full-time position with hours Monday - Friday on second OR third shift (2 pm -10:30 pm OR 10 pm - 6:30 am every other weekend) and on-call requirements. In this role, the ADON will assist the Director of Nursing with managing and evaluating nursing care delivery in accordance with PrimeCare Medical (PCM) philosophy, goals, and objectives. They will also assist the Director of Nursing with various administrative and clinical duties.

Requirements

Ability to multi-task.
Good grasp of patient assessment skills.
Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Pennsylvania.
Minimum of 1 to 3 years management experience of a medical facility.
Decision making ability required.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Leadership ability required.

Demonstrate clinical competency.

Responsibilities

Assist the Director of Nursing with managing and evaluating nursing care delivery.
Prepare reports as required.
Maintain a professional nursing attitude and working relationship with facility staff, unit staff, contracted providers, outside service providers, and Corporate Staff.
Be tactful and diplomatic at all times.
Function as a role model for nursing staff.
Use established Corporate and Facility policies and procedures in decision-making.
Use factual data and sound independent judgment.
Interpret and ensure compliance with established standards of PCM and NCCHC/ACA.
Orient, supervise, and evaluate the performance of nursing personnel (in collaboration with Health Services Administrator).
Assign and direct nursing staff.
Develop and monitor work schedules and provide coverage with appropriate staff to maintain adequate staffing levels.
Maintain accurate records of all controlled substances, narcotics, and sharps.
Provide health counseling to inmates/patients.
Conduct sick call for inmates/patients and provide provisional diagnosis and treatment for selected minor illnesses and injuries.
Refer all cases not covered by the written protocol that do not respond to treatment to an appropriate PCM Physician.
Receive and give inter-shift report to ensure continuity of care.
Observe, report, and document symptoms, reactions, and progress of inmates/patients and formulate a plan of nursing care.
Review, evaluate, and coordinate planning for future admissions, and participate in pre-release planning.
Collect complete ongoing data to determine nursing care needs.
Monitor nursing care which promotes, maintains, and restores the well-being of inmates/patients.
Perform all aspects of general and specialized nursing care principles and techniques.
Assist physicians during the performance of physical examinations and physician visits.
Perform initial inmate/patient physical assessment (intake screening).
Accompany and assist PCM Physician(s) during facility rounds.
Assist the dentist and psychiatrist as needed.
Assign duties to PCM Medical nursing staff, provide instruction(s) on methods and techniques to provide care, review work in progress, and collaborate with the Health Services Administrator.
