Assists the Director of Nursing (DON) in directing and overseeing daily nursing operations within the care center. This role provides leadership and support to nursing supervisors, licensed nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), and other nursing personnel. The Assistant DON plays a key role in developing and implementing nursing department goals, supporting the organization's mission, vision, and values, and serving as a clinical resource for the nursing staff. This position assumes responsibility for Nursing Services in the absence of the DON and participates in administrative meetings and leadership initiatives. Key responsibilities include monitoring resident care delivery for compliance, assisting with resident assessments and complex clinical situations, providing clinical guidance, and supporting survey management and corrective action planning. The role also involves assisting with staffing, scheduling, wound management, falls reduction, infection prevention, and conducting audits to ensure compliance with nursing standards. Additionally, the Assistant DON assists with recruitment, onboarding, leadership development, outbreak management, emergency preparedness, admissions, transfers, discharges, grievance investigations, competency validation, and performance management. Participation in budgeting and resource management, staff rounding, and meetings are also part of the role.
