Assistant Director Nursing
About The Position
The Assistant Director of Nursing supports the Director of Nursing Services in managing the nursing department and assumes responsibility for the department when the director is unavailable. The role helps implement and monitor nursing techniques, objectives, and standards of care; coordinates nursing services with other resident services; and supports case management and direct resident care. The position also promotes resident choice and rights, ensures regulatory compliance and appropriate staffing, and participates in employment-related activities such as hiring, performance management, safety, engagement, recognition, development, and training.
Requirements
- Nursing diploma or associate degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program.
- Three years of leadership experience with demonstrated progressive responsibilities, preferably in a long-term care facility.
- Registered Nurse license, certifications, and other licensure required by state regulations.
- Candidates who accept an offer must complete a background screening through the Florida Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in nursing.
- Five to seven years of nursing experience in a long-term care facility.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Director of Nursing Services with all functions of the nursing department and assume responsibility when the director is unavailable.
- Implement, direct, monitor, and report on new techniques, nursing objectives, and standards of nursing care, as assigned.
- Coordinate nursing services with other resident services to ensure continuity of each resident’s overall care.
- Oversee and assist with assessment, coordination, planning, monitoring, implementation, and evaluation in case management, and administer direct resident care.
- Foster an environment that acknowledges and supports residents and their rights to make choices about their surroundings and care.
- Meet federal and regulatory requirements, ensure appropriate staffing levels, and forecast team needs as workload fluctuates.
- Assist with employment-related activities, including team member safety, hiring, performance management, corrective action, engagement, recognition, development, and training.
