About The Position

Advanced Recovery Systems is a physician-led behavioral healthcare company focused on providing evidence-based care for addiction and mental health conditions. The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) plays a crucial role in patient care and departmental management. This position involves caring for and educating patients about their medical and psychiatric conditions, building trust and rapport with patients and their families, and assisting the Director of Nursing in the daily operations of the Nursing Department. The ADON is responsible for directing the day-to-day operations of the Nursing Staff on their assigned unit and may assume the role of the Director of Nursing in their absence.

Requirements

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse as indicated in State law.
  • Licensed to practice in the appropriate state, as applicable.
  • Minimum two years’ experience as a Licensed Registered Nurse.
  • Behavioral Health experience preferred.
  • Prior leadership/supervisor experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Resolve pending issues from the previous shift, such as missed or incomplete labs or treatments, incomplete admissions or discharges, and missing data for continuity of care.
  • Conduct compliance audits related to infection control, including glucometer, refrigerator, sharps containers, laboratory cleanliness, pest control, and hand washing/flu campaigns.
  • Manage medication storage, medication returns, and medication destruction, and liaise with the pharmacy to resolve medication issues.
  • Order supplies, manage inventory, and maintain/organize the supply room.
  • Monitor and track lab orders, outside consults, and medical transfers.
  • Coordinate and plan the admission workflow, print Integra and Care 360 requisitions, and ensure proper labeling of collected samples.
  • Manage Level of Care transfers in AVATAR.
  • Perform administrative functions such as scanning documents into AVATAR, assisting with the work schedule, and aiding BHTs in creating/modifying observation sheets.
  • Conduct admission and discharge audits and check/audit the proper completion of any nursing procedure to ensure compliance.
  • Coordinate the Vivitrol program as directed by the supervisor.
  • Maintain the daily scheduling of units according to approved ratios based on census.
  • Collaborate with other departments and agencies regarding resources and services for quality patient care delivery.
  • Ensure appropriate nurse staffing levels are maintained at all times during a State of Emergency and may be required to remain on-site throughout the State of Emergency period.
