About The Position

Freedom Behavioral Hospital of Monroe is actively hiring for a qualified Assistant Director of Nurses (ADON) to join their growing team. The ADON is responsible for upholding the standards of care established by regulatory and accrediting bodies, assisting with oversight and direction to all direct care nursing staff. The ADON ensures safe staffing levels according to protocol, provides assistance to nursing staff with decision-making, clinical judgment, and medical staff communication, and offers direct patient care when needed. They also assume nursing administrator on-call duties, participate in the QAPI process by monitoring and analyzing nursing data, and ensure timely development of nursing schedules. The role involves coordinating nursing care within the scope of practice and in compliance with policies, collaborating with the Director of Nursing (DON) and Human Resources on hiring and terminations, and completing performance evaluations. Additionally, the ADON works with Intake and Service Development to facilitate admissions, maintains knowledge of admission criteria, and functions as a member of the Utilization and Treatment Team. They act as a resource for staff in developing policies and procedures affecting the nursing department and patient care, assist in ensuring survey readiness through regulatory compliance and quality standards, and collaborate on facility projects and program development for patient care. The ADON is a member of the facility's leadership team.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse for at least 5 years
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical psychiatric/mental health nursing care past working experience
  • RN License through the Louisiana state board of nursing
  • 3-years management in mental health nursing

Responsibilities

  • Uphold standards of care established by regulatory and accrediting bodies.
  • Assist with oversight and direction to all direct care nursing staff.
  • Ensure the unit is staffed safely and according to protocol.
  • Provide assistance to nursing staff with decision-making, clinical judgment issues, and medical staff communication.
  • Provide direct patient care when indicated.
  • Assume nursing administrator on-call duties when indicated.
  • Assist with direct oversight to the nursing staff.
  • Participate in the QAPI process with monitoring, tracking, and analyzing nursing data.
  • Ensure the development of the nursing schedule in a timely manner.

  • Complete performance evaluations for nursing staff as scheduled.
  • Work with Intake and the Service Development Department to facilitate admissions into the facility in a timely manner.
  • Maintain knowledge of admission criteria and accurately document admission criteria for new admissions.
  • Function as a member of the Utilization and Treatment Team to participate in the communication of identified patient goals, interventions, and assessment.
  • Act as a resource for all administrative, nursing, and direct care staff in formulation of policies, procedures, forms, and process that directly affect the nursing department and patient care.
  • Assist with ensuring survey readiness through regulatory compliance and quality standards of care.
  • Collaborate on facilities’ projects and program development to oversee the safe accurate, development, and implementation of patient care.
  • Participate as a member of the leadership team within the facility.
