About The Position

This is an exciting opportunity for a collaborative and strategic marketing and communications leader to make a significant impact on the future of pharmacy education, research, and healthcare. Reporting directly to the Chief of Staff/Communications Director, the Assistant Director of Marketing and Communications will play a critical role in advancing the visibility, reputation, and strategic priorities of the Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. In this highly visible leadership role, the Assistant Director will oversee the daily operations of the Marketing and Communications Office and lead a talented multidisciplinary team responsible for content development, social media, web strategy, digital marketing, recruitment campaigns, CRM and email marketing, photography, video, and internal communications. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with faculty, academic program leaders, researchers, Student Services, and campus partners to develop and execute high-impact marketing and communications initiatives, strengthen the School's brand, improve operational effectiveness, and support emerging institutional priorities. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence strategic decision-making, mentor communications professionals, and drive meaningful engagement with prospective students, alumni, healthcare professionals, donors, and the broader community.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, marketing, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
  • Seven (7) years of progressively responsible professional experience in marketing, communications, public relations, recruitment marketing, or a related field.
  • An advanced degree (Masters or Doctorate) may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis if the degree is in a field of study directly related to the work assignment.
  • Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and oversee integrated marketing and communications strategies that advance School priorities, increase visibility, strengthen brand awareness, and promote the School's educational programs, research, faculty expertise, and impact on healthcare and pharmacy practice.
  • Partner with academic programs, Student Services, and School leadership to develop and execute recruitment marketing initiatives that support enrollment goals for Doctor of Pharmacy, Master's, PhD, certificate, and other academic programs.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Marketing and Communications Office, including management of digital marketing, website, social media, content development, CRM and email marketing, and other communications platforms and technologies.
  • Directly supervise, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary team of marketing and communications professionals, fostering a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing work environment aligned with School priorities and objectives.
  • Lead the planning, prioritization, and execution of multiple marketing and communications projects by establishing clear scopes, timelines, deliverables, workflows, and performance measures, while ensuring efficient use of staff and resources.
  • Serve as the primary operational liaison for marketing and communications activities across the School, building effective partnerships with faculty, staff, students, academic leaders, research leaders, Student Services, campus partners, and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate closely with the Chief of Staff/Communications Director and School leadership to assess emerging opportunities and changing priorities, recommend strategic marketing and communications approaches, and adapt plans and resources to support the School's evolving goals and objectives.
