About The Position

The Assistant Director of Graduate and Global Recruitment at Tarleton State University leads strategic outreach efforts that drive inquiries and applications across graduate, online, and international programs. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of University Recruitment, this position manages a dedicated team and takes ownership of graduate recruitment strategy, event programming, partnerships, and day-to-day operations across multiple campus locations. University Recruitment at Tarleton State University is a collaborative, student-centered team committed to increasing enrollment through a unified and strategic outreach approach. While individual roles specialize in undergraduate or graduate recruitment, all team members are expected to maintain a broad understanding of both areas. All positions are encouraged to support informed, student-first conversations that reflect the full range of academic opportunities at Tarleton State. All staff support both on-campus and virtual recruitment initiatives across the university's multiple campuses, including Stephenville, Fort Worth, Waco, Texas A&M-RELLIS, and Online. This position requires a regular presence at both the Stephenville and Fort Worth campuses. The selected candidate's primary campus will be discussed and determined at the time of hire.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in public relations, marketing, education, communication, or a related field
  • Six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in recruitment, sales, marketing, event management, or enrollment management
  • At least three (3) years of experience in a leadership or supervisory role
  • Understanding of the expectations, timelines, and decision-making factors that influence graduate students, including working adults and career changers
  • Demonstrated experience supervising recruitment professionals, managing multi-territory operations, and building a team environment where people are well-supported, well-trained, and consistently performing at a high level
  • Ability to build, manage, and adjust recruitment strategies based on data, trends, and institutional priorities
  • Proven ability to build positive relationships with employers, corporate leaders, academic partners, and community professionals across a wide range of industries
  • Ability to position graduate programs clearly and compellingly across audiences and channels, with a practical understanding of how marketing and outreach strategy drive enrollment results
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present information clearly to a range of audiences, including prospective students, partners, and leadership
  • Commitment to brand consistency and strong attention to detail across recruitment materials, event experiences, and external communications, ensuring Tarleton State University is always represented with quality and intention
  • Ability to quickly learn and get the most out of new and advancing technologies, with particular emphasis on Salesforce optimization, Microsoft Office Suite proficiency, and a genuine interest in staying current as tools and platforms continue to grow in the field
  • Ability to interpret recruitment data, identify patterns, and translate findings into decisions that improve strategy and performance
  • Experience building shared planning systems that keep distributed teams organized and moving together on complex, multi-part projects
  • Demonstrated comfort operating in evolving environments and leading a team through change with confidence
  • Regular evening and weekend hours are required to support recruitment events throughout the year.
  • Travel up to 20–30% that may vary based on recruitment needs and demand, and includes occasional overnight travel.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and evaluate graduate recruitment and yield strategies in collaboration with the Assistant Vice President of University Recruitment to ensure consistent, data-informed approaches across all assigned populations
  • Oversee the graduate team's participation in statewide graduate program fairs, professional events, and outreach initiatives
  • Identify programs with enrollment growth potential and build targeted outreach efforts that generate qualified inquiries and expand visibility
  • Develop and maintain relationships with employers, corporate partners, and community organizations that expand access to graduate programs and create referral pipelines
  • Promote recruitment events and initiatives to reach prospective students not yet in the enrollment pipeline, using targeted outreach, digital promotion, and community engagement
  • Maintain strong relationships with internal partners across the university to support shared recruitment goals
  • Utilize CRM and engagement platforms, including Salesforce, Capture Higher Ed, and Mogli, to manage recruitment activity and monitor outreach effectiveness
  • Participate in vendor and enrollment partnership meetings to stay current on platform capabilities and optimize usage
  • Oversee the planning, logistics, and scheduling for on-campus events and webinars
  • Design and host recruitment experiences that reflect the quality and character of Tarleton State University, with attention to every detail that shapes how prospective students and guests experience the institution
  • Promote recruitment events on campus and within the broader community to drive attendance and build awareness
  • Collaborate with colleagues in Enrollment Management on lead generation, event promotions, presentations, and print materials
  • Serve as a visible leadership presence at major recruitment events, representing the recruitment team and the university with professionalism and purpose
  • Maintain quality of post-event reports that capture attendance, observations, and follow-up actions to inform future planning
  • Supervise and support the graduate recruitment team, oversee travel schedules, and manage day-to-day operations
  • Ensure all team members are well trained on university systems, recruitment processes, program knowledge, and institutional expectations, with ongoing opportunities to grow their skills
  • Collaborate with the University Recruitment leadership team on annual training planning, shared development initiatives, and cross-team consistency
  • Uphold team expectations for logging activities in Salesforce, monthly inventory tracking, timely post-event documentation, and other daily administrative tasks
  • Conduct annual audits of all team-facing resources and recruitment materials to ensure content and appearance remain current, professional, and aligned with the institutional brand guidelines
  • Step in for the Assistant Vice President of University Recruitment on matters when needed, representing the team with confidence and clear communication
  • Connect with the College of Graduate Studies on admissions processes, enrollment planning, and program updates to ensure outreach reflects current offerings and institutional priorities
  • Collaborate with academic units and campus partners to coordinate recruitment by major or program, ensuring accurate representation of academic offerings
  • Attend Enrollment Management division meetings and provide regular updates on graduate recruitment efforts, funnel activity, and team initiatives
  • Identify process improvements that enhance efficiency, consistency, and data accuracy across the recruitment cycle
  • Collaborate with the CRM Specialist on recruitment dashboards and outreach list development to support targeted, timely engagement with prospective students
  • Analyze inquiry trends, application progression, and population data to inform strategy and resource allocation
  • Monitor internal and external trends in graduate, online, and international enrollment and adjust outreach strategies accordingly
