About The Position

The Assistant Director of Food & Beverage is responsible for the direction and coordination of all Food and Beverage operations at the accesso ShoWare Center, ensuring company standards are maintained. This individual will help to facilitate optimum operational efficiency, maximize profits, and provide exceptional customer service. This role involves assisting in the development and implementation of marketing plans for catering services, capital projects for operational improvements, and outside catering marketing plans. The position also entails evaluating and enhancing sponsorship programs, coordinating with marketing for public relations, managing relationships with building tenants, and negotiating contracts. The Assistant Director will administer operating and marketing financial plans, including budgets, and evaluate facility practices for improvements in efficiency and safety. Oversight of Food & Beverage operations during events is crucial for client satisfaction and quality control. The role requires analyzing operational data, inspecting facilities for compliance with health and safety regulations, and maintaining cost and quality control standards. Ensuring staff adherence to alcohol enforcement and health department regulations is paramount, alongside providing excellent customer service and maintaining a professional work ethic in compliance with all relevant policies and procedures. A cooperative, team-like attitude is essential, and the position requires flexible, sometimes long hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Food & Beverage Management or related field desired
  • Minimum 5 years industry experience in management level position with three (3) of those years in a management function in an arena, convention center or stadium; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous responsibilities of inventory, cost control, ordering, receiving, & stocking of supplies and products.
  • Must have current Washington State Liquor License
  • Food handler certificate required from Health Department.
  • Must obtain ServSafe Manager, ServSafe Alcohol and ServSafe Allergen certifications as required by ASM Global Food and Beverage Division.
  • Possess skills and experience in contract negotiations, business law, labor relations, purchasing procedures and supervising personnel.
  • Engage in much decision making that is generally governed by procedure and guided by policy.
  • Demonstrate knowledge in the terminology and verbiage of the concert and live entertainment industry.
  • Demonstrate knowledge in the practices and terminology of public relations programs, advertising, marketing and sales.
  • Plan, coordinate, and direct varied and complex administrative operations.

  • This position requires minimal stooping and lifting, but substantial walking.
  • Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time.
  • Be able to withstand moderate to loud noises.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and implementation of a marketing plan for Food and Beverage catering services to accesso ShoWare Center clients.
  • Assist in the development and execution of capital projects to revamp food and beverage operations through conceptual design, space allocation, and technology implementation to drive revenues, increase efficiencies, and enhance guest experience.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of proactive outside catering marketing plans for local special events and festivals.
  • Evaluate existing venue food & beverage and alcohol-related sponsorship programs and work with the Director of Food and Beverage to enhance sponsor visibility, find new sponsorship opportunities, and develop partnerships within the accesso ShoWare Center facility.
  • Coordinate with Director of Marketing to generate community awareness of department success stories and develop new public relations opportunities to promote food & beverage capabilities.
  • Manage relationships with building tenants and respond to challenges, requests, and issues from general managers and team ownership.
  • Assist in negotiating contracts and agreements for necessary activities and services at the facility.
  • Direct and administer the execution of operating and marketing financial plans and documents, including operating revenue and expense budgets, and capital expense plans and budgets.
  • Evaluate facility practices and recommend improvements to better reflect the needs of the Client and the facility, and/or to improve the efficiency and safety of operations, in compliance with organization.
  • Oversee Food & Beverage operations during events to ensure client satisfaction and quality control standards.
  • Analyze information concerning facility operations such as daily food sales, patron attendance, and labor costs to prepare budgets and maintain cost control.
  • Inspect food service facilities to ensure equipment and building meet state, local health laws, and internal regulations.
  • Maintain cost and quality control standards and reviews inventory controls with Food and Beverage staff.
  • Inspect and sample prepared foods to maintain quality standards and sanitation regulations.
  • Ensure all staff adheres to State & Local Alcohol enforcement regulations.
  • Enforce all liquor laws & adhere to all health dept regulations.
  • Provide the highest customer service excellence.
  • Ensure compliance with all Savor F&B policies and procedures.
  • Required to speak and understand basic English well enough to converse with customers, supervisors, and employees.
  • Maintain a professional work ethic.
  • Follows all rules and regulations which apply to the food and beverage operations and to Legends Global Food and Beverage Division.
  • Maintain a cooperative, team-like attitude in working with supervisors and fellow employees (including other departments).
  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding; disciplining employees in conjunction with Human Resources department; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
