About The Position

The Fifth Avenue Hotel, an award-winning luxury destination, is seeking an Assistant Director of Finance to join our team. Nestled in the heart of Manhattan, our hotel is a vibrant oasis featuring 149 beautifully appointed guest rooms, where personal service, extraordinary design, distinctive cuisine, compelling art, and immersive cultural experiences come together to create something truly exceptional. As the Assistant Director of Finance, you will support the Director of Finance in providing operational oversight and managing the day-to-day financial operations of the property to maximize fiscal health, asset protection, and long-term profitability. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with strong analytical skills, refined interpersonal abilities, and a genuine passion for maintaining financial discipline within the "flâneur" spirit of uncompromised luxury environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Hospitality Management, or equivalent experience required.
  • Progressive accounting or finance experience in luxury hospitality is required.
  • Exceptional communication and organizational abilities.
  • Proven ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • A keen eye for financial integrity and the intentional details that define luxury profitability.

Responsibilities

  • Support the direction and oversight of daily financial and accounting aspects of the property to maintain a luxury, five-star (and beyond) standard of hospitality.
  • Assist in providing accurate, timely, and actionable financial reporting and analysis to the Director of Finance and executive leadership, ensuring every monetary detail is intentional.
  • Assist in monitoring capital expenditure (CapEx) tracking to support the hotel’s unique identity, ensuring art and design elements are continuously preserved and showcased.
  • Support the strategic allocation of resources to ensure guest areas remain impeccably maintained to spark curiosity and delight.
  • Work closely with Housekeeping, Front Office, Engineering, and Food & Beverage to track departmental financial performance, forecasting, and labor efficiencies on a day-to-day basis.
  • Act as a resource to department heads, helping them interpret daily financial data to drive smart operational adjustments without compromising the premium guest experience.
  • Supervise, mentor, and train daily accounting and finance staff, fostering a culture of professional warmth, integrity, and excellence.
  • Support clear accountability and development pathways for the finance team.
  • Assist in managing departmental and property-wide budgets, forecasting models, inventory controls, and cash flow operations while maintaining uncompromised luxury standards.
  • Compile and communicate daily, weekly, and monthly financial metrics to support continuous operational and revenue improvement.
  • Enforce rigorous internal audit controls, tax compliance, and legal protocol for all financial transactions and operational procedures.
