About The Position

The Assistant Director of Engineering is responsible for working side by side with the team, ensuring guest and colleague comfort and safety at all times. This role requires a pursuit of excellence in luxury service delivery. The Assistant Director will work as an active member of the management team, creating professional relationships and active involvement with all hotel operations, including daily and weekly management meetings, and support to all team members, including Manager on Duty Shifts. Responsibilities include providing in-house mechanical and electrical servicing, repair, and maintenance using well-trained, presentable personnel in an efficient, discreet, and guest-friendly manner. The role ensures that all maintenance requests are prioritized and dealt with efficiently. The Assistant Director will develop, train, and supervise a team of technically proficient and generally helpful technicians. This role oversees and coordinates mechanical repairs, transportation preventative maintenance, and ground/landscaping teams. Additionally, the Assistant Director ensures the Fire system is operating properly and trains the Maintenance team as well as key team members on fire emergency protocol. The Assistant Director acts as the “go to” in the absence of the Director of Engineering.

Requirements

  • Proven experience and a solid understanding of plumbing, HVAC, electric, spa and pool utilities, and carpentry.
  • Three years’ operating experience in the engineering department of a hotel or closely related industry. Luxury preferred.
  • Experience in maintaining state and federal health and safety regulations.
  • Able to work on a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, according to departmental and operational needs.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English.
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Window applications required.
