About The Position

Columbia Hospitality is seeking an Assistant Director of Engineering to join their team. This role is responsible for maintaining the building's physical, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, ensuring the security, cleanliness, preventive maintenance, and repair of all engineering department tools, equipment, and safety features. The ideal candidate will uphold high standards of cleanliness and organization within maintenance storerooms and workspaces, and ensure proper care of tools and equipment. This position requires timely and professional completion of work orders, effective communication, prompt reporting of unsafe conditions, and the ability to support and manage team members when acting as manager on duty. The role may require working evenings, weekends, and holiday shifts.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in a hotel environment.
• Certifications for HVAC, plumbing, and/or carpentry.
• Must have knowledge and the ability to operate tools, hand tools in a safe and efficient manner.
• Ability to effectively perform patching, caulking, painting, or staining of a variety of surfaces.
• Ability to read temperature gauges, utility meters, etc.
• Must possess basic math skills such as addition, subtraction, and understanding units of measurement.
• Ability to read and speak English fluently.
• Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.
• Basic computer skills such as typing and email correspondence.

Responsibilities

• Maintains the building’s physical, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
• Ensures the security, cleanliness, preventive maintenance, and repair of all engineering department tools, equipment and safety features are in accordance with established procedures.
• Ensures all maintenance and engineering storerooms and workspaces are kept in a clean and orderly manner and storing all tools, equipment, and spare parts in proper location.
• Responsible for the proper treatment and care of tools and equipment used to perform tasks.
• Responsible to complete delegated work orders in a timely and professional manner.
• Provides open and effective lines of communication and addresses issues or concerns in a prompt and efficient manner.
• Reports and addresses unsafe conditions immediately.
• Supports, delegates, manages team members when acting as manager on duty.
