About The Position

Lakeland University is seeking a student-focused and detail-oriented person to support students and families throughout the financial aid process. This role is responsible for advising on different financial aid options, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, and delivering excellent customer service across multiple communication channels. The ideal candidate will be organized, analytical, and committed to supporting student success.   • Ability to effectively manage time and priorities
  • Ability to prioritize office workflow and make effective administrative decisions to increase efficiency, accuracy, and productivity
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate (written and verbal) with a variety of individuals tactfully and effectively
  • Strong critical thinking skills
  • Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint and Word) or equivalent products
  • Demonstrates organizational ability, and attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • Preferably a minimum of 1-3 years of experience in higher education; however, willing to train

Responsibilities

  • Advise students and families on financial aid and financing options
  • Conduct verification of student application data, assess changes, and complete compliance testing
  • Evaluate financial need in accordance with the federal formula
  • Award federal, state, and University aid programs in accordance with the federal, state and Lakeland University policies
  • Communicate effectively to students, parents and colleagues via, email, phone, instant message, and in person
  • Attend professional development and training programs as required
  • Prepare and conduct presentations on financial aid at community events and at on-campus events
  • Work proficiently in the Jenzabar and other financial aid software(s) to ensure the processes are compliant with federal, state, and Lakeland University regulations and policies
  • Assist in researching federal and state regulations
  • Travel to other campuses to meet with students at planned events
  • Serve as the department's supervisor over student employees, ensuring training, scheduling, and overall success of the student employee in the department
  • Any other project or task that arises that is related to financial aid
  • Performs other duties as assigned
