About The Position

The Assistant Director of Development, Annual Giving strategically assists the Office of University Development and the Nittany Lion Club in the efforts to encourage and increase participation and annual support of funds for the University and Penn State Athletics. This role facilitates, manages, and promotes alumni relations and development programs to benefit the campus or unit and its surrounding communities. The position involves developing and executing plans for the evaluation, cultivation, and solicitation of a portfolio of prospects for annual gifts, including travel to visit donors. It also includes establishing, implementing, and evaluating plans to solicit philanthropic support, assessing, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding a portfolio of higher gifts prospects, and promoting a broad understanding of the philanthropic priorities of the university to academic leadership, volunteers, alumni, and employees. The role requires managing and preparing proposal, solicitation, and cultivation materials, collating and interpreting available data research to develop relationships with potential donors, and building and maintaining relationships with volunteers, donors, committees, alumni, and boards. Additionally, the Assistant Director will partner with campus or unit representatives to provide award and recognition events, alumni reunions, and advisory board meetings, and manage and conduct selected fundraising activities, including direct mail, telemarketing, e-communications, personal solicitations, and event planning as assigned. There is a possibility to assume duties of office operations and supervise staff, if necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 1+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities
