About The Position

The Assistant Director Clinical Services is an RN who is responsible for assisting the Director of Clinical Services in the overall supervision of nursing care in the Health Center. Freedom Village Bradenton is looking for someone who enjoys working with older adults, caring for and talking with them, learning from their stories and seeing them smile. Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Unencumbered Registered Nurse with a current clear FL state license.
  • Two years’ experience in geriatric nursing and/or B.S. Degree in nursing.
  • Minimum of two years nursing administration experience, preferably in a long-term care setting.
  • Solid computer proficiency.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Participation in professional organizations, dealing primarily in geriatrics preferred.
  • NADONA certification a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises direct nursing care in the Health Center.
  • Administers direct nursing care when more than routine care is indicated.
  • Makes routine rounds to assure proper care and a safe, clean resident environment.
  • Assures accuracy and completeness of medical records.
  • Coordinates, conducts, and documents the MDS, resident care plans and conference in the absence of the MDS nurse.
  • Supervises nursing personnel on all shifts.
  • Participates in staffing, scheduling, counseling, orientation, and evaluation of nursing staff.
  • Assists with orientation of nursing personnel.
  • Participates in family/resident counseling.
  • Responds to emergency calls, as necessary.
  • Functions in the capacity of DON in his/her absence.
  • Assures effective communication with other shifts and departments as it relates to resident care.
  • Willing to work an “on call” rotation.
  • Assures timeliness of physician visits.
  • Accompanies physicians when making rounds.
  • Notifies physician and family of changes in resident’s condition.
  • Encourages rehabilitative techniques to restore residents’ independence.
  • Assures proper functioning of medical equipment and adequate medical supplies.
  • Assists DON in developing and implementing policies and procedures.
  • Assists in infection control, safety and pharmacy rounds and audits.
  • Attends in-service training and education sessions, as assigned.
  • Performs specific work duties and responsibilities assigned by supervisor.
