About The Position

The Assistant Director for Career Education will report to an Associate Director, in the Experiential Education and Career Development department, and will provide career coaching, program management and support for students, employers and alumni, primarily on the Boston Campus, but throughout the Northeastern University global network. They will provide individualized support to students, deliver career development workshops, and participate in the department’s efforts to support career exploration, job seeking, and employer engagement.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree is required with a minimum of 1 to 3 years of experience in career services, recruiting, workforce development, or higher education.
  • Experience working with or advising students and/or early-career professionals with the ability to translate complex industry dynamics into accessible, actionable guidance.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with a proven ability to engage, inform and inspire diverse audiences through compelling presentations and facilitated learning experiences.
  • Strong organizational skills with a track record of designing and managing efficient systems, programs and events with careful attention to detail and operational excellence.
  • Thrives in fast-paced, collaborative environments with the ability to manage shifting priorities, adapt quickly, and contribute effectively as part of a dynamic team.
  • Demonstrated ability to build authentic relationships across diverse cultures, backgrounds and identities, and genuine commitment to inclusive practice.
  • Proficiency with career management platforms (e.g., Handshake), labor market intelligence tools (e.g., Lightcast, LinkedIn Talent Insights), and AI-enabled career development tools.
  • Ability to occasionally work a flexible schedule in support of programming and events.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized and small group career advising and coaching to students and recent graduates.
  • Guide students through job search strategies, resume, cover letter and portfolio development, interview preparation, and offer evaluation.
  • Support the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of programming that addresses the full arc of the job search: industry exploration, networking, mock interviews, career fairs and employer showcases, and salary negotiation.
  • Develop programming in partnership with career development team, faculty, student organizations and employer partners.
  • Capture and leverage data to evaluate program effectiveness to iterate accordingly.
  • Assist with career education special projects and initiatives including, but not limited to, career fairs, employer visits, networking events, and engagements with prospective, incoming, current and graduating Northeastern students.
  • Support the ideation, planning, logistics and delivery of both small and large-scale events.
