About The Position

Post University is seeking an Assistant Director of Athletic Communications for its NCAA Division II institution. This role reports to the Director of Athletic Communications and requires strong writing skills, the ability to learn new processes, and proficiency in relevant software. The candidate will be responsible for covering all Post University home games, understanding the rules of sponsored sports, and maintaining statistics according to conference and NCAA rules. This position involves managing the athletic website, publicizing teams, handling live stats and video streaming, writing press releases, and managing social media accounts. The Assistant Director will also build relationships with local media and increase hometown coverage.

  • Manage the Eagles Athletics media accounts
  • Establish relationships with the local media
  • Knowledge of video streaming hardware and software is necessary
  • Bachelor's degree required with a focus on journalism or sports management
  • 2 years of college experience

Responsibilities

  • Knowledge of sports rules and statistics is recommended.
  • Coordinate with local media and opposing teams to promote games.
  • Write and distribute press releases in the Associated Press format.
  • Manage all sports information, including part-time game staff, graduate assistants, and interns.
  • Take part in the marketing and promotion of collegiate programs and their successes.
  • Prepare game notes and game programs, take team photos, and video stream games.
  • Run and develop online Photoshop for athletics.
  • Manage all social media channels associated with the athletic department, including Twitter and YouTube.
  • Research hometown newspapers and interact with media outlets; increase hometown coverage.
  • Sit at and manage the Official Scorer's Table during home contests.
  • Operate all software and other statistical programs used by the NCAA, CACC, NE-10, ECC, and NEWHA.
  • Update the athletics webpage as directed.
  • Research Post University's athletic programs and track statistics on web traffic.
  • Oversee student graduate assistants/interns in conjunction with the undergraduate sport management program.
  • Other duties assigned by the Athletic Director.
