About The Position

The University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) is seeking an Assistant Director of Assessment and Crisis to join the Wellness Center Mental Health Services (WCMHS) team. This position provides both clinical and non-clinical services, focusing on clinical psychology and counseling for UCCS students whose personal/emotional lives interfere with their academic performance. The role involves developing and executing neuropsychological offerings, managing assessment budgets, overseeing testing materials and equipment, and expanding assessment services. The Assistant Director will partner with the Director of Clinical Training to supervise trainees in testing services and collaborate with UCCS Disability Services to ensure appropriate accommodations. A key responsibility is developing and implementing a crisis/emergency plan, training staff, and evaluating its effectiveness, while also responding to psychological crises and contributing to on-call duties. The position also involves developing and implementing data collection strategies to inform service decisions and assist with billing. Psychotherapy services are provided in individual, group, couple, and family formats, with appropriate referrals made when necessary. The role includes supervising graduate students, interns, and fellows, participating in supervision consultations, attending staff and administrative meetings, and maintaining the WCMHS website and materials. Additionally, the Assistant Director will contribute to campus-wide education and prevention programs and address the developmental needs of the campus community.

Requirements

Experience with psychological, educational, and neuropsychological assessments (administration, report-writing, and providing feedback).
Experience providing clinical assessment supervision for trainees.
Experience with risk assessment and crisis intervention strategies.
Experience in creating and implementing processes for an organization or team.
Experience with common psychological disorders (eating disorders, psychological trauma related disorders, substance abuse and dependence, mood and anxiety disorders, suicide and violence risks, psychotic disorders).
Experience with developmental and academic challenges of traditional and nontraditional college students.
Experience with short-term psychotherapy modalities in individual, group, couple, and family therapy formats.
Experience with supervising graduate students who have various levels of education, training, and experience.
Experience with effective data collection and the ability to articulate findings.
Ability to create and deliver psychoeducational presentations for students, faculty, and staff.
Active Colorado psychologist license or eligibility to obtain one within 3 months of employment.
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree or Doctor of Psychology degree.

Responsibilities

Directly responsible for development and execution of neuropsychological offerings at the WCMHS, including educational materials.
Adapt neuropsychology offerings as the need arises.
Create an annual budget and manage income and expenses for all assessment needs.
Responsible for all testing online materials, equipment needed, and pen/paper assessments.
Expand assessment services and tools throughout all mental health services.
Partner with the WCMHS Director of Clinical Training (DCT) to provide training and supervision for trainees in testing services.
Partner with UCCS Disability Services team for testing services that impact accommodations for UCCS students and provide up-to-date education.
Develop a crisis/emergency plan, train all staff/trainees on the process, and regularly evaluate its effectiveness.
Remain up-to-date on the most current research around college campus crisis/emergency needs.
Respond to psychological crises/emergency walk-ins or calls to the WCMHS.
Make assessments and carry out crisis/emergency interventions.
Contribute to on-call duties of the WCMHS clinicians.
Develop and implement data collection strategies to track Mental Health Service data.
Analyze collected data to inform service decisions based on outcomes.
Assist with billing of non-Wellness Center units/agencies when needed.
Provide psychotherapy services in individual, group, couple, and family therapy formats.
Make appropriate referrals to on- and off-campus services whenever clinically necessary.
Be available to contribute to case consultations with referral agencies.
Provide required support services for referrals from other university offices (e.g., education/outreach, counseling, evaluations).
Assist other clinicians in carrying out referral requests as needed.
Share the clinical supervision load of graduate students, predoctoral psychology interns, and post-doctoral fellows.
Regularly participate in supervision consultation and training.
Attend all staff meetings and administrative meetings related to position responsibilities.
Maintain accurate information on the WCMHS website.
Take the lead on WCMHS materials used around campus.
Partake in WCMHS staff efforts to organize and coordinate campus-wide education and prevention programs.
Assist in efforts to address the developmental needs of the campus.
