The Assistant Director of Assessment directs and performs screening of potential patients for admission and initiates the integrated assessment process. In a clinical capacity, this role supports administration, physicians, and clinical staff in assessing pending admissions, determining the appropriate level of care, and communicating pending admissions to nursing. The role uses approved admission criteria to recommend the least restrictive appropriate level of care and initiates the episode-of-care plan at admission for all levels of care. The Assistant Director serves as a liaison among physicians, families, transportation services, and other mental health facilities to coordinate admissions. The role ensures assessment and historical information is complete and accurately communicated to attending physicians; communicates with external reviewers and referral sources; conducts required external reviews; and documents interactions in accordance with HIPAA guidelines. The position also ensures third-party payors are notified of or participate in decisions about transitions between levels of care. Additional duties include preparing morning reports on census, referral sources, and pending admissions; maintaining relationships with referral sources; assessing, coaching, and developing team skills while holding the team accountable to high standards; and auditing functions for compliance with applicable CMS, JCAHO, EMTLA, and state regulations and standards. This is a full-time position at Triangle Springs, a 77-bed behavioral health hospital in Raleigh.
