About The Position

Temple University's Enrollment Management Department is searching for an Assistant Director of Admissions! The Assistant Director of Admissions reports to the Associate Director of Admissions and serves as an ambassador for Temple University to prospective students, families, counselors, community-based organizations, and other key education stakeholders. The Assistant Director will travel extensively to conduct outreach and recruitment initiatives aimed at cultivating interest in Temple University. Gives presentations, speaks in front of large and small audiences, meets regularly with counselors, hosts receptions, staff college fairs, and conducts workshops and programming directly related to the admission and financial aid process. Conducts extensive follow-up communication with students and families who have expressed interest in Temple University. Attends and supports Open Houses, Experience Temple Days, Regional Receptions, Temple Promise, and Transfer Days. Participates fully in the evaluation and selection process of first-year candidates for admission. Reads applications and makes decisions on a large volume of admission candidates. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Three (3) years of directly related admissions, enrollment management, or recruiting experience in a higher education environment.
  • Experience speaking in front of large and small groups, delivering information sessions, lectures, or speaking at industry-specific conferences.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Demonstrated interest in working with high school students, parents, counselors, and community-based organizations about the college admission and/or financial aid process.
  • Ability to travel extensively throughout a geographic region in the United States.
  • Must be able to travel to off-site locations that may not be accessible via public transportation.
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, along with the ability to effectively interact with a diverse group of students, parents, staff, and faculty.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills, along with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, as well as in a diverse team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with student records.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize an electronic student information system.
  • Ability to lift boxes of promotional material of approximately 20 pounds.
  • Must have the ability to work nights/weekends/early mornings.
