About The Position

The Florida Atlantic Police Department in Boca Raton, Florida, is seeking an Assistant Director of Administrative Services. This position serves as the business manager for the Police Department and acts as the liaison with the budget office. The incumbent provides highly responsible and complex administrative support to the Police Chief, managing human resources, fiscal operations, telecommunications, records, and other support functions.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution; or a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and two years of experience.
  • Accounting background.
  • Experience with budget forecasting.
  • Experience with budget management.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and administer the department's annual budget, all contracts and grants, and the foundation account.
  • Prepare accurate financial reports on the status of operations.
  • Monitor and approve expenditures and direct and implement fiscal adjustments as necessary.
  • Assist with grant development.
  • Coordinate and administer all personnel-related activities including recruiting, hiring, training, motivating, and evaluating personnel.
  • Manage department payroll and Criminal Justice Incentive Program payments (CJIP).
  • Oversee purchasing and central supply activities.
  • Arrange facility maintenance.
  • Direct the administration and documentation of records.
  • Manage local and federal audits, and FDLE audits.
  • Oversee FDLE updates in Automated Training Management Systems.
  • Manage department office operations.
  • Plan, develop, and implement department policies for the support workforce.
  • Initiate procedures and controls to promote communication and adequate information flow.
  • Identify, formulate, and implement improvement opportunities.
  • Provide administrative support as needed to the Chief and other command staff.
  • Perform job-related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
