About The Position

Responsible for the operational management of the Family Leadership Council, a program exceeding $5 million with over 250 member families. This role involves planning and executing annual member communications and events, and providing guidance to development officers on engagement and solicitation strategies throughout the membership lifecycle. The position will also manage a portfolio of members focused on annual and/or major gifts to Tulane.

Requirements

  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to write and speak in a clear, succinct, sincere, and compelling manner.
  • Demonstrated successful experience in prospect identification and relationship building.
  • Experience working closely and/or staffing senior and executive leadership individuals.
  • Experience in asking for large gifts and/or staffing volunteers to ask for large gifts.
  • Ability and professional style to work with university leadership, trustees, volunteers, and top donors in an effective, diplomatic, and sophisticated manner.
  • Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple activities, demands, and/or projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated initiative and self-starting capacity.
  • Experience handling sensitive information and maintaining strict confidentiality.
  • Bachelor’s Degree and at least 2 years of combined experience in fundraising, including volunteer board management, solicitation and closing of gifts; marketing, admissions, public relations, alumni relations, trust officer, or sales experience may be considered based on relevance and skill transferability.
  • OR High School diploma or equivalent and 8 years of directly related experience.
  • Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of and proficiency with various software systems, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Qualtrics (or other survey tools), iModules, Concur (expense systems), Affinaquest (or equivalent donor management systems, e.g., Salesforce or Blackbaud), and Drupal (or other tools for updating web pages, e.g., WordPress).
  • Commitment to the values of an institution of higher learning and medical education, training and research.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute annual member communications and events for the Family Leadership Council.
  • Provide guidance to development officers regarding engagement and solicitation opportunities for the full life cycle of membership.
  • Maintain a Family Leadership Portfolio comprising members who support Tulane with annual gifts and/or major gifts.
  • Manage the operational aspects of the Family Leadership Council program.
  • Collaborate with the President’s Office, Senior Advancement Leadership, and Major Gifts, Regional Programs, Director.
