About The Position

The Office of Undergraduate Admissions at The Ohio State University is seeking an Assistant Director for Transfer Recruitment. This role is part of the Outreach and Recruitment team and is responsible for recruiting prospective students to the university. The Assistant Director will report to an Assistant/Senior Assistant Director of Outreach and Recruitment and will be located in the Student Academic Services Building. The team consists of approximately 30 full-time staff members, with a broader Undergraduate Admissions team of 55. The peak seasons for this role are typically August through May. The work hours can range from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, with flexibility for early morning, evening, and weekend hours due to the nature of outreach and recruitment programs, including those in varying international time zones. Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership to the transfer recruitment and admissions process for the Undergraduate Admissions Columbus campus.
  • Serves as the subject matter expert on transfer student recruitment and enrollment.
  • Works with leadership in creating and implementing strategy for transfer recruitment efforts.
  • Plans, executes, and contributes to building and evaluating transfer recruitment efforts for targeted populations.
  • Utilizes data to understand populations and collaborates on the implementation of data-driven outreach and recruitment efforts.
  • Participates in and provides oversight to the development, implementation, and evaluation of new outreach and recruitment efforts in collaboration with internal and external partners (e.g., email journeys, mailings, publications, websites).
  • Oversees name licensing through external vendors for transfer students.
  • Works closely with transfer credit and other academic advising units to influence processes important to transfer student enrollment.
  • Manages a recruitment territory (e.g., transfer) and executes territory-specific recruitment activities and events in collaboration with partner offices.
  • Develops and maintains positive relationships with community colleges and builds a transfer advisory board program annually.
  • Collaborates and builds relationships with Columbus State Community College, transfer center staff, and advisors for in-person and virtual programs.
  • Travels to and coordinates office visits to in-state and out-of-state community colleges, transfer college fairs, and military-focused centers to represent Ohio State (possible travel up to 8-10 weeks per year).
  • Makes recruitment calls to prospective students in collaboration with partner offices.
  • Analyzes prospective student data.
  • Learns and uses the Empowering Market Analysis (EMA), CRM (Salesforce), Student Information System, and other technologies for data entry and management.
  • Performs data validation and manages electronic workflows.
  • Provides leadership and supervision of one professional staff member and a military community liaison, including performance management, training, coaching, and evaluation.
  • Counsels and corresponds with students, families, university departments, and other stakeholders regarding Ohio State admission policies and procedures.
  • Conducts large and small-group presentations.
  • Researches and resolves problems.
  • Reviews applications (domestic, international, transfer, special population) and makes admissions recommendations through a holistic review process.
  • Assists with on and off-campus recruitment events and projects.
  • Coordinates recruitment for special programs as assigned.
  • Participates as an active member of Undergraduate Admissions through committee membership.
  • Manages personnel, operational, and territory budgets of designated areas.
  • Serves in place of the associate director at designated meetings and programs.
  • Completes special assignments and other duties as assigned.
