The Assistant Director of Community Standards and Student Advocacy is a full-time, 12-month position with direct responsibility for addressing and investigating all reported infractions to the Student Code of Conduct, conducting educational sessions for community members, tracking all violations, and scheduling all Student Conduct Board Hearings as required. The Assistant Director of Community Standards and Student Advocacy will ensure they are knowledgeable on all matters of the law as it relates to student conduct and works, under the supervision of the Dean of Students, to provide training to all members of the campus community and direction to the Student Conduct Board. The Assistant Director will support and develop student advocacy by advising the Student Government Association (SGA). Joining our Student Affairs team, the Assistant Director of Community Standards and Student Advocacy will be responsible for the following: Respond accordingly to all reported violations of the Student Code of Conduct as outlines in the student handbook. Track all written incident reports to ensure reporting and compliance. Maintain active memberships with professional organizations as it is related to student conduct and provides necessary updates and training to relevant community members. Ensures that due process is upheld for all students and the student code of conduct is followed in the student handbook. Assist in the annual update and publication of the Student Handbook. Stay up to date on best practices and policies related to higher education, student conduct, Title IX, and other applicable state and federal laws/regulations. Be accessible and maintain regular communication to the campus community to discuss issues related to the student experience and their rights on campus. Schedule and assign conduct hearings as required. Coordinate and facilitate training for the campus community, specifically related to student conduct processes, university policy, and advocacy. Recruit and train faculty and staff to serve on the Campus Standards Board. Coordinate Student Conduct Board hearings as outlined and when required. Assist in the coordination of the Campus Crime Statistics Report (Clery Act) and NYS 129B. Responsible for communications with students and families participating in the student process and serves as the liaison with local law enforcement, when needed. Regularly collaborate with university departments, faculty, and staff. Serve as the advisor to the Student Government (SGA) and manage their portion of the student activity fee, which includes being knowledgeable of the SGA constitution and bylaws. Coordinate the annual election for the Student Government Association (SGA). Organization and implement the annual Student Leadership Awards Luncheon. Serve on various university and divisional committees. Assist in the planning and assessment process and dictated by the University. Perform all other duties as assigned
