About The Position

This position provides oversight, management, and development of clinical training programs in Counseling Services. The Assistant Director for Clinical Training (ADCT) will train and supervise clinical trainees, including pre-doctoral interns participating in the APA accredited pre-doctoral internship program. The ADCT will also provide leadership, guidance, and administrative supervision to clinical supervisors. The ADCT will carry a caseload of clients and provide culturally affirming clinical services, including triage assessments, intake evaluations, diagnostic assessments, treatment planning, crisis intervention, brief individual and couples counseling, and group counseling. The ADCT will assist students requiring long-term or specialized care in connecting with campus and off-campus resources, and provide psychiatric referrals. The ideal candidate is an experienced psychologist who routinely provides clinical supervision, and is a motivated, dedicated, collaborative leader with a passion for providing high-quality, culturally responsive, innovative, and ethical training and supervision. The candidate should possess integrity and a commitment to lifelong learning, growth, and collaboration. The ADCT will join a supportive team of multidisciplinary mental health care providers who value humor, connection, mutual respect, and meaningful relationships. The Wellness Center offers professional development funds, payment of licensure costs, and staff mini-retreats. Self-care is integrated into the practice model with a maximum of five scheduled clinical hours per day, dedicated documentation time, reserved lunch time, clear expectations to prevent overworking, and no on-call duties. Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in counseling or psychology from a fully APA-accredited program.
  • Completion of a fully APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship.
  • At least 5 years clinical experience providing psychotherapy, preferably in a college or university counseling center.
  • At least 1 year of experience serving as a clinical supervisor providing weekly supervision.
  • Experience and knowledge of individual and group counseling and psychotherapy practices.
  • Knowledge of developmental psychological theory.
  • Understanding of student development and outreach.
  • Experience providing culturally affirming clinical care and supervision to a diverse population.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with developmental issues common to the 18-25 year old college student population.
  • Ability to perform psychological assessment.
  • Ability to provide crisis intervention services.
  • Ability to provide effective consultation and clinical supervision.
  • Ability to maintain appropriate records via an EHR.
  • Ability to adhere to professional confidentiality standards.
  • Current professional MA license as a psychologist or current license as a psychologist in another state and license-eligible in MA (required to obtain license within first 3 months of employment).
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse groups.
