About The Position

This is a promotional opportunity for current UML Employees within the same Bargaining unit. The Assistant Director for Clinical Training (ADCT) will oversee, manage, and develop clinical training programs within Counseling Services. Responsibilities include training and supervising clinical trainees, such as pre-doctoral interns in the APA-accredited program. The ADCT will also provide leadership, guidance, and administrative supervision to clinical supervisors. The role involves carrying a caseload of clients and delivering culturally affirming clinical services, including triage assessments, intake evaluations, diagnostic assessments, treatment planning, crisis intervention, brief individual and couples counseling, and group counseling. The ADCT will assist students in connecting with campus and off-campus resources for long-term or specialized care and provide psychiatric referrals. The ideal candidate is an experienced psychologist skilled in clinical supervision, motivated, dedicated, collaborative, and passionate about providing high-quality, culturally responsive, innovative, and ethical training and supervision. Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in counseling or psychology from a fully APA-accredited program.
  • Completion of a fully APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship.
  • At least 5 years clinical experience providing psychotherapy, preferably in a college or university counseling center.
  • At least 1 year of experience serving as a clinical supervisor providing weekly supervision.
  • Experience and knowledge of individual and group counseling and psychotherapy practices.
  • Knowledge of developmental psychological theory.
  • Understanding of student development and outreach.
  • Experience providing culturally affirming clinical care and supervision to a diverse population.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with developmental issues common to the 18-25 year old college student population.
  • Ability to perform psychological assessment.
  • Ability to provide crisis intervention services.
  • Ability to provide effective consultation and clinical supervision.
  • Current professional MA license as a psychologist or current license as a psychologist in another state and license-eligible in MA (required to obtain license within first 3 months of employment).
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse groups.

  • Experience working in a college or university campus counseling center strongly preferred.
