About The Position

Montefiore Einstein is seeking an experienced and strategic Assistant Director, Food Services Purchasing to support the procurement operations of the Food & Nutrition Services Department. The successful candidate will oversee purchasing activities, vendor relationships, inventory management, and cost-control initiatives to ensure the continuous availability of food, supplies, and equipment necessary to support patient care and retail food service operations. This role requires strong leadership, analytical skills, and a commitment to operational excellence within a complex healthcare environment.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Hospitality Management, Food Service Management, or a related field required.
Minimum of 5 years of progressive purchasing, procurement, supply chain, or food service management experience.
Strong understanding of procurement practices, inventory management, and vendor contract administration.
Experience with purchasing systems, inventory management software, and Microsoft Office applications.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Demonstrated commitment to customer service and operational excellence.

Nice To Haves

Master's degree preferred.
Previous healthcare, hospital, hospitality, or institutional food service experience strongly preferred.
Supervisory or leadership experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist in directing and managing all food service purchasing functions for the department.
Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers to ensure quality, service, and competitive pricing.
Monitor inventory levels and implement effective inventory control practices to minimize waste and shortages.
Analyze purchasing trends, utilization data, and market conditions to identify cost-saving opportunities.
Ensure compliance with organizational policies, contractual agreements, regulatory requirements, and food safety standards.
Collaborate with Food & Nutrition leadership, Finance, Supply Chain, and Operations teams to support departmental objectives.
Oversee product sourcing, substitutions, and standardization initiatives.
Participate in budget preparation and expenditure management.
Prepare and present reports related to purchasing, inventory, and operational performance.
Support staff development, workflow improvement, and process optimization initiatives.
Assist with emergency procurement needs and operational contingency planning.
