About The Position

The Assistant Director of Finance assists with the development and management of the annual operating budget and supports long-term financial planning initiatives. This role provides financial analysis and forecasting to support strategic decision-making. The position develops and evaluates clinical practice proformas and budgets, supports contract development and review, and utilizes enterprise financial planning systems such as OneStream to enhance reporting and budgeting accuracy. Candidates should have experience in mid- to senior-level financial roles within a university or government environment, strong analytical skills, and familiarity or training with OneStream.

  • Must be detail oriented with good analytical skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks independently.
  • Excellent computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, databases, etc.).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with representatives of client organizations, business leaders, and staff in a tactful and positive manner.
  • 6 years of progressively responsible accounting, finance, audit and related work activities required.
  • Bachelor's Degree Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or Healthcare Administration required.
  • Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.

Responsibilities

  • Directs the budget and financial forecasting process to ensure fiscal integrity. This includes, but is not limited to, comparing budgeted expenses and revenues to actual expenditures, as well as providing monthly financial updates and plans for variations such as departmental operating expenses, fee budget to actual, payments to actual, payment to budget, and salary variance to budget.
  • Directs and assists with month-end close, identify expense improvement opportunities, analyze budget variances, and create monthly profit and loss statements and ending projection reports.
  • Provides complex financial analysis and financial reporting. This includes, but is not limited to, producing financial and accounting scorecards, cost studies, management reports, monthly volume reports, charges, collections, RVU, payor mix analysis, and all other ad hoc reports intended to streamline data for various projects.
  • Participates in the development of short- and long-term plans and budgets based on overall objectives and growth targets; creates detailed net revenue and expense models; and develops budget metrics.
  • Assist with the preparation of business plans for the recruitment of new faculty, including all relevant revenue and expenses.
  • May act as a designated responsible party for financial reporting for the department.
  • Manages Human Resources activities of department in regards to: recruiting and selection, hiring and termination, training, professional development, mentoring, counseling, performance evaluations, and salary planning.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
