About The Position

The Assistant Director of Billing and Coding Compliance provides analysis and direction for the administration of insurance follow-ups, and accounts receivable activities. Ensures departmental productivity and compliance goals are met. Provides guidance, trains, and supervises billing office staff. Under the guidance of the Director of Billing Operations and Coding Compliance, assists with revenue cycle management for the College of Community Health Sciences (CCHS). Creates and assigns aging reports and worklog tasks to medical insurance clerks and other billing office staff. Provides guidance and training to build an efficient and effective billing office team, and promotes a strong culture of integrity and responsibility. Partners with Coding Compliance Supervisor to assign tasks and set completion deadlines. Manages staff schedules, assists in training of new staff and periodic employee performance evaluations, generates monthly employee productivity reports for the Director, monitors the timely completion of AR worklog tasks. Assists the Director in preparing practice management curriculum and other presentations as needed. This position works as the billing office liaison to other CCHS departments, including clinical and enterprise departments - Finance, HealthIT, Reception, Lab, etc. Maintains strictest confidentiality; adheres to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and six (6) years accounts receivables management, medical billing/collections, clinical operations, and/or healthcare compliance functions experience; OR Master's degree and four (4) years of accounts receivables management, medical billing/collections, clinical operations, and/or healthcare compliance functions experience.
  • Knowledge of health care management, clinic philosophy, and policies and operational procedures.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to understand diagnoses and physician's remarks on medical reports.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex data.
  • Ability to research and prepare comprehensive reports.
  • Ability to monitor quality control standards.
  • Skill in developing and maintaining effective relationships with staff, providers, patients, and regulators.
  • Skill in organizing work to achieve clinic goals and objectives.
  • Proficient in the use of personal computers, standard application software, and electronic health record systems.
  • Excellent organizational and effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills, ability to communicate with respect, cultural awareness, and sensitivity.
  • Demonstrated expertise in data analysis and report generation using Excel and/or SQL.
  • Demonstrated experience working with electronic medical records.
  • Ability to cope with stressful conditions.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Health Care Analytics and 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Supervisory experience to include oversight of billing staff employees.
  • Experience working with clearing houses, NextGen EPM and EMR, Meditech, and/or IngeniousMed.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of physician reimbursement in the following areas: CPT-4, ICD-10, HCPCS, and managed care guidelines.
  • CPC medical coding certification.
